The Royal Naval Armaments Depot (RNAD) at Milford Haven was established in 1935 on the north shore of the haven at Newton Noyes, on a site previously occupied by a ship-breaking yard. It served as an extensive facility to store and supply naval mines and munitions, with tunnels, six armament sheds, and rail connections to a pier. Employing over a thousand people at its peak during World War II, the depot played a significant role in the war effort, including preparing for D-Day and supporting mine-sweeping operations.
The base was gradually run down and closed by March 1991.
